Over 130 countries come together in Chile to boost nature finance and support global biodiversity targets

The world’s largest-ever gathering on nature-finance opened in Chile on Tuesday, as over 130 countries rallied behind global biodiversity goals, exploring bold innovations — from nature bonds to repurposed subsidies, from fintech to nature credits — to unlock sustainable funding for conservation in an era of declining international aid.

UNDP and UNEP launch the Cali Fund at COP16 in Rome, heralding a new era of biodiversity financing

On the margins of the resumed session of the CBD COP16 in Rome, UNDP and UNEP launched the Cali Fund for the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits from the use of Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources (DSI). 

Launch of the Nature of Subsidies: A step-by-step guide to repurpose subsidies harmful to biodiversity and improve their impact on people and nature.

The guidelines spotlight the urgency to reimagine subsidies for positive impacts on nature, society, and fiscal responsibility, and provide a step-by-step approach to assist countries in achieving this.
